In February 2010 the MV Pacific Link will begin a 16 port Ship Tour of Australia, sailing down to Adelaide and arriving up in Townsville June/July 2010 before embarking on the Medical Mission part of the tour. The tour has two main purposes:
The first section of the Ship Tour of Australia will be a promotion/public awareness tour with the objectives of:
- Highlighting the needs of the nation of PNG
- Volunteering and training opportunities available for health professionals, businesses, churches, service clubs, schools etc within both Australia and PNG
- Promotions for minor fundraising events
The second section (the main objective) of the Ship Tour will be a Medical Mission to Papua New Guinea. The strategic plan includes a 5-10 year commitment to provide health care services in PNG.
There are heaps of activities happening around each port visit including school programs, tours, concerts, and more.
